It was a real shame to read that Bentley will be withdrawing factory support from its Continental GT3 program.
Whilst it’s completely understandable given the current climate and the VAG’s desire to take Audi and Porsche back to Le Mans, we just can’t help feel pretty sad about this.
When it was announced nearly 9 years ago that Bentley were returning to racing in the GT3 category, we were over the moon. The car was of course massive and many debates were sparked over whether it would be a competitive GT3 race car. It certainly was based on a Grand Tourer!
Having personally seen this car race at the Spa 24 Hours, British GT and Blancpain GT Series, piloted by many amazing drivers, from Rick Parfitt Jnr to Seb Morris. The car has certainly caught the minds and hearts of fan and driver alike.
The car ended on a high this year, with a win at the Bathurst 12 Hours back in February 2020.
